Levit starts out with a short self-assessment
test. It's designed to root out your likes and dislikes, with the
goal towards placing you in one (or more) of the main categories listed
above. After you score the test and determine your type(s), there's
a brief description of the personality attributes for those types, along
with a list of jobs that they would quite often do well in. Once
finished, you can start exploring the job write-ups in your particular
area of interest.
Each job write-up gives a realistic
sense of what to expect. There are quotes from people who currently
do that job, explaining what they like and don't like about it. She
explains the general requirements of the job, the type of work to expect,
resources to get more information, and most important (for many), how much
one could expect in terms of pay. As you'll quickly learn, it may
be that the money you want to be able to earn doesn't normally come to
those in a particular occupation. Don't expect to be pulling down
$100K a year as a social services caseworker, for example. But to
some, the emotional and psychological pay-offs of the job offer far greater
compensation than the actual paycheck. Figuring this out beforehand
can save you some time and effort (and heartache) when picking a career
path.
I would expect that most people reading
this would be the 20-somethings who are trying to figure out their place
in the world. But, if you're approaching retirement or looking
to make a career switch, this book will also serve you well in terms of
decision-making for the Career 2.0 phase of your life.

to accept for a recreational read was the young adult novel The
Rule of Won by Stefan Petrucha.
I'm often hesitant to venture into the YA genre, as 1) I'm definitely

files have to be in the .ODP format, which means using Symphony or OpenOffice.org.

I'm finally here in LA, in my room at the
Westin Bonaventure, getting caught up on emails and hoping for an early
and restful night. I arrived around 1:15 pm, and found that they

Now that I'm going to start straddling
the Lotus/Microsoft fence, I've had to readjust my mindset more than a
little bit. I'm feeling a bit chagrined over having to reconcile
my anti-Microsoft stance with the realities of life in the IT world. But

expansion.

to say, it took a bit of time before I got to the top of the library hold
list. It didn't take me long to read the story, as I found it intriguing.
It's a different slant and method for looking at how God works. Theologically,

Billed as a nanotech thriller, it was definitely in the genre range

I followed up the book Borderline with
Mark Schorr's next novel in the Brian Hanson series, Fixation.
As with Borderline, I loved the setting of the story in my home town.
Also, the suspense of being stalked and harassed at each turn was
good enough to keep me turning pages. I don't think I was quite as
enthralled this time as with his first novel, but it was an entertaining
read.

When we went on our DisneyWorld vacation
earlier this month, Alaska Air unfortunately ended up changing our reservations.
What started as a direct PDX to MCO flight turned into the more typical

As you can see, these aren't the normal
"whizzing around Epcot" Segways. No, these are the two-wheeled
SUV versions! This tour kicks off from Ft. Wilderness with about
12 people and two guides. After a short training session, it's off
on the trails around the resort, both paved and off-road. These have
a top speed of 12 miles per hour, but the ones they let us loose on are
