Mon, Dec 1st 2008 7:53p Mitch Cohen Like many of the other people presenting
at Lotusphere I am heads down trying to complete my sessions before the

Using Multiple Profile Types in Lotus Connections
Wed, Nov 19th 2008 8:36p Mitch Cohen A question came up today on how to display
different data for different types of employee profiles in Lotus Connections,
the answer is to create different types of Profiles and assign users in
to that Profile type.
Before you begin make sure you have
backed uo your profiles-confg.xml, and follow the instructions for checking
out the file
before editing.
Profile types are defined in the "profiles-config.xml
file in the section, this is the start of the

Help is on the way for duplicate calendar entries
Fri, Oct 31st 2008 8:52p Mitch Cohen If you have been using Notes as your
calendar for a while at some point you have probably had to deal with a
duplicated meeting entry, and especially if it was a repeating meeting
it was next to impossible to resolve the duplicate, you were generally
better off leaving both entries and dealing with it. I had heard
that in Notes 8.5 there was some work around resolving issues with duplicated
calendar entries, and this morning while straightening out my calendar

Why IBM should send Lotusphere 2009 Session Acceptances on Monday
Thu, Oct 30th 2008 8:51p Mitch Cohen Last night over dinner with Stuart

Keith we were discussing what
to expect next Tuesday as we here in the US go to the polls to elect our
next president, given the level of politically related blog posts on Planet

one would logically expect a frenzy of activity come elections day. Now
don't get me wrong, I will go vote on Tuesday and believe it is important

Sun, Sep 28th 2008 8:36p Mitch Cohen For the second season in a row the Mets
were eliminated from the play-offs on the last day of the baseball season.
Unlike last years September collapse, while the Mets blew a lead
again this year, they really lost this season with 29 blown saves tying
a team record. Think about it, the Mets finished one game out of
the play-offs, if they could have closed out one or two more games there
would still be baseball left for the Mets to play this year.

Is there a familiar theme here?
Thu, Jun 12th 2008 3:26p Mitch Cohen Connections 2.0 ships tomorrow, Quickr
8.1 is out, as is Sametime Advanced, take a look at all three and you will
notice something very familiar, the UI, regardless of if you do or don't

What is wrong with these people?
Thu, Jun 12th 2008 2:45p Mitch Cohen So I think we can all agree that baseball
and football players today are overpaid and spoiled, take for example the
Giants
Plaxico
Burress who coming off of a Super
Bowl win is unhappy with his contract
And while Burress
was on the field, he refused to practice because of what he called "a
business decision." It turns out that the receiver who caught the
game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl XLII is unhappy with the progress
of negotiations for a new deal.
So lets make sure we underst [read] Keywords: |

Is that to stay or to go? (Taking Activities offline)
Sun, Jun 8th 2008 9:34a Mitch Cohen On of the features promised in Notes
8.5 is the ability to take Activities off line, thanks to Luis Benitiez
(blog
twitter)
here are the steps on enabling Activities to go. Once enabled you
can both view, edit and add content to your activities which will all synch
back when connected.
First you do need to be running the
Notes 8.5 Public Beta, once you
have that download, and installed, you can enable off line Activities by
editing a configuration file.

Using Activities to manage your IBM PMR's
Thu, Jun 5th 2008 9:33p Mitch Cohen Today in conversation (and by conversation
of course I mean Twitter)
a question came up on how to best manage PMR's (Problem Management Reports
aka what you open when something is not behaving as it should) with IBM.
My solution to this has been to use
Activities in Lotus
Connections.
Why use Activities, simple it is the
perfect tool for the job and here is why. I created an Activity
Template, the template is pre-populated with some general information that
you need when opening a PMR su [read] Keywords: connections

My (not so) new iPhone and DWA Ultralite in Domino 8.5
Tue, Jun 3rd 2008 11:05p Mitch Cohen About 2 months ago I got an iPhone,
and have been testing the new DWA Ultralite mode on it, now that it is
in Public Beta I can talk about it a little here. I would include
screen shots, but as of now I have not found a way to take a screen shot

feel like undertaking right now. (any suggestions for this let me know

Installing Sametime Advanced plug-ins in Notes 8.0.1 and a few other complaints.

Mon, May 5th 2008 8:18p Mitch Cohen Blackberry released the Lotus Connections
Client for Blackberry today, the first version fully supports Profiles
and Dogear. The download is available in two flavors, one for loading
via Desktop Manager, and one for Over the air download.
This is version 1.0, I would expect
to see a lot more in future releases which are being worked on now. I
have not played with it much yet, but profiles search is nice, and fully

Update on the twins
Tue, Mar 25th 2008 12:33p Mitch Cohen Thanks to everyone for their good wishes
via comments, tweets and e-mails. By far the most popular question
I have been getting is about the babies names. Right now the babies
have not been given names, by Jewish tradition baby boys are given their
names on the eighth day at their Bris.
Our twins were born a few weeks early so their Bris will likely be
delayed a bit beyond the eighth day (we wait until the doctor clears them
medically which takes precedence over anything else). One more note [read] Keywords: |

IBM Predicts Five Future Trends That Will Drive Unified Communications
Wed, Mar 19th 2008 7:52p Mitch Cohen IBM released their five predictions
for Unified Communications which were delivered during Mike Rhodins keynote
address at VoiceCon
1.The Virtual Workplace will become the rule. No need to leave the office.
Just bring it along. Desk phones and desktop computers will gradually disappear,
replaced by mobile devices, including laptops, that take on traditional
office capabilities. Social networking tools and virtual world meeting
experiences will simulate the feeling on being there in-person. [read] Keywords: collaboration

Lotus Connections and Oracle

really no different then DB2, I found one bug (if you could even call it

BlackBerry is baseball fan's best friend
Mon, Mar 17th 2008 5:39a Mitch Cohen MLB.com has an article this morning

You don't have to
look hard to find a baseball fan carrying a BlackBerry these days. They
hold onto them like Chase Utley holding onto his Rawlings glove at second

are going to be that vital as a companion, they might as well be put to
