Wed, Aug 10th 2011 8:17a   Matt Cook
Learned today that Amazon had quietly released Cloud Reader. Went to the Kindle homepage and clicked on the Cloud Reader link which takes you to https://read.amazon.com. Initially it wouldn’t load so I turned off Private Browsing and refreshed and the page loaded. Quickly discovered as this was designed for the iPad that all of this [...] [read] Keywords: blackberry

I typically don’t share much of a personal nature here, but this picture of my beautiful soldier-wife makes me smile every time I look at it. She is an Army Reserve nurse. …I am still grinning. [read] Keywords:

Did Quickr Connectors Steal Notes’ Mail Buttons?
Fri, Aug 5th 2011 7:11p   Matt Cook
In Benoit Maillet’s post Where are the buttons for send mail?, Benoit describes an issue which we have also seen in deploying Notes 8.5.2FP2 Standard on Windows 7 64-bit. I commented on that post and thought I would post here as well. The text on the toolbar buttons and the frames around the text boxes [...] [read] Keywords: notes quickr

Thu, Aug 4th 2011 10:08p   Matt Cook
Attended Paul Mooney’s Adminblast session at IamLUG where one of the tips was to upgrade the ODS of client databases on client upgrade. See IBM Technote here. This reminded me that during our 8.5 client upgrades, we saw a handful of PCs with consistent Notes crashes because clients’ names.nsf files were still on the 20 [...] [read] Keywords: ibm notes notes client ods

Sun, Nov 21st 2010 11:13p   Matt Cook
The service desk called recently regarding someone who when forwarding or replying from her mail archive was sending messages using her maiden name. I recommended they change the mail owner on the archive to the current married name and all should be right with the world. No change button was present, however. I looked at [...] [read] Keywords: archive

Lotus Notes 8.5 Standard Folder Performance
Fri, Oct 22nd 2010 11:25a   Matt Cook
A colleague had a service desk ticket of someone’s complaining of Notes’ being really slow. He was running 8.5.1 standard. Thought memory might be an issue as he had only 1 GB of RAM. Had the desktop team test client performance with 2 GB of RAM. Still slow. Applied 8.5.1 FP4. Still slow. My colleague [...] [read] Keywords: lotus notes desktop

The Out-of-Office Service in Mixed Environments
Mon, Aug 23rd 2010 10:29a   Matt Cook
In attending Gabriella Davis’ “Preventing Server Sickness from Becoming a Pandemic” session at IamLUG this year, it was mentioned that the out-of-office service could be used in a mixed environment. I was a bit surprised as everything I had read and heard before was that you needed to be 8.x on server, client, and mail [...] [read] Keywords: office server
