A fantastic prototyping application
Sun, Nov 23rd 2008 6:01p   Bruce Elgort
I just heard about the Balsamiq Mockups application on the net@night podcast. This looks like a great prototyping application for developers and business people. After I test use it a bit I plan to blog some more about it. You can simply click on the "Try it now" link and literally use it over the web. It appears to be an Adobe Air application. Finally a version for the Mac
Sun, Nov 23rd 2008 5:50p   Bruce Elgort
Elguji has been a GotoMeeting customer for almost a year now and we have truly come to rely on this cost effective web meeting service for customer demos as well as customer support. One of the things that has been missing from the service has been the ability to share a Mac OS X screen and in my specific case - a Keynote presentation. If you are a GotoWebinar customer you can also use the new Mac client to present to groups of 16 or more. Earlier today I tested out this new feature out with Ma [read] Keywords: ideajam mac vm

A daily ritual of mine is to review log files on IdeaJam, LinkJam, the Elguji blog and Elguji website. It's always interesting to learn how people are getting to your site. Recently I found some links from a competitor of ours based in the UK. It's not the first time I found them or other compeitors snooping around but iit's always fun to watch them try and "dig" their way into certain areas on the sites. Mon, Nov 17th 2008 5:21p   Bruce Elgort
A few months back when I was selling one of my 1972 Rogers drum sets a bunch of guys inquired via email and then proceeded to come see the drums at my house. Little did I know that these guys were from the indie rock group "The Dimes", a local Portland band. They were looking for some vintage drums to record their second CD with. On Thursday and Friday I decided to connect my Quickr 8.1 installation to our Active Directory and initially ran into some problems. Quickr gives you the option from the Web UI to select an LDAP source for user authentication. The reality of the Lotus installed base is inevitably one of legacy integrations and point release installations in large institutions - the idea that Lotus Notes drives collaboration will produce a dry chuckle from those currently using past iterations of the product. Help with Sametime Gateway
Thu, Oct 2nd 2008 4:47p   Bruce Elgort
A small local company that uses Lotus products has the need to connect their Sametime users with Yahoo IM users. This customer also has a legal requirment to log all of the chat transcripts that flow through the Sametime Gateway. I did some quick research and found that the IBM Lotus Sametime Gateway requires DB2 to be installed. So with this I have a few questions: Does the customer need to purchase DB2? Does the Sametime Gateway have built in Yahoo chat logging capabilities? Is a 3rd party p [read] Keywords: ibm lotus sametime db2

I think Alan's cone of silence has been lifted
Tue, Sep 30th 2008 2:26p   Bruce Elgort
Alan blogged this and now we have this from SocialText: SocialText 3.0 is (or will be in the near term) an enterprise mashup of Facebook, FriendFeed, enterprise microblogging, and the wiki. If you were to take any one of these constituencies - social networking, conversation aggregation, Tw*tter, or vanilla wikis and the leveraged sites the technology has produced - you might not think of SocialText as a major player or competitor with the exception of the enterprise wiki space. The LDD Wikis
Mon, Sep 29th 2008 5:20p   Bruce Elgort
Over the last year the folks over at the Lotus developerWorks have created wikis for many of the Lotus products including IBM Composite Applications, IBM Mashup Center, Lotus Connections, Lotus Domino, Lotus Domino Designer, Lotus Notes, Lotus Quickr and others. Earch wiki has an RSS feed, allows you to post and edit articles, search by category as well as submitting comments. What I have found is that the wikis don't seem to be getting much participation. For example, the Lotus Notes and Domin [read] Keywords: composite connections designer domino ibm ldd lotus mashup notes quickr applications community wiki

Sun, Sep 28th 2008 1:41p   Bruce Elgort
This morning I was reviewing the 60+ Lotusphere 2009 Best Practices track submissions posted on IdeaJam and noticed one glaring omission - a session on Lotus Notes 8 Composite Application development. I know that these sessions only represent a fraction of the thousands that get submitted but you would think that all of the work that has gone into the Eclipse based Notes 8 client you would see more session abstracts on this topic. If you plan on submitting or attending a session in the Best Practices track, then please head over to IdeaJam and write up what you would like to present or see at Lotusphere.
