Lotusphere 2008: Day Three
January 23rd, 2008 by Corey Davis
The morning was supposed to start off with BOF302 Blogging Best Practices, but I just could not get up this morning. So, I started with AD309 IBM Lotus Notes and Domino C-API. Okay, great session, but that is not the way to start the morning. Too much C too early in the morning is not good for the brain.
Then ran over to the Dolphin for BP213 Worst Practices. Bill and Paul were nothing less than utterly fantastic, but didn’t we already know that? They announced that this was the last Worst Practices for awhile because they are taking next year off from giving it. They will still present other sessions and Worst Practices will be back. So, this year was the best of the worst: their favorites from previous years.
After lunch I went to Andre and Rocky’s Advanced LoutsScript session. It was very timely for me as I have been seriously considering utilizing XML and DXL in some of my projects.
Then it was over to Julian and Rob McDonagh’s Reports, Charts and Graphs session. For some reason I actually expected that it would be boring but useful. Instead, it useful and fun! Julian and Rob have great chemistry together and showed off many charting and graphing tools that can be incorporated into Notes that I had never heard of before such as amCharts which looks very cool!
Next was The Great Code Giveaway with Rob Novak and Viktor Krantz. This is another staple session and it was fantastic mostly focusing on making great looking and increasingly useful Notes views in a web browser.
I then ran into John Vaughn who I haven’t seen in a year or so. We caught up a little and then went into the blogger’s BOF. I actually had no intention of going to that BOF but am quite glad that I did. There was some very engaging conversation, a good portion of which was about both new bloggers and being scared to blog something (usually technical in nature) out of fear of looking a fool. I want to go more in depth on that subject, so watch here for a post about that topic soon.
And such was Day 3. Sad to see it coming to an end tomorrow, but very much looking forward to getting home.
