OpenNTF has lots of good stuff, some are additional stuff which seamlessly add to IBM's applications, some are improved versions of IBM's out-of-the box applications, some are completely new applications.

We use for example OpenLog, and I think OpenLog has already achieved the status of a standard error logging tool for Domino.

IBM would really invest their money very effectively if they would have an official resource working at OpenNTF. However, IBM is a big company and the whole business about experts comes down to invidual persons, not companies. That could make things harder, to get the real experts of IBM work for OpenNTF, and not just some underpaid helpdesk representatives :)

I'm not going to advocate either for or against this idea. It has some merit, but on the other hand, you need to enter into an arrangement like that carefully. Don't forget that for a large company, investment == control. The more the investment, the more control they will want.
